TEAM CANADA AT THE ROK CUP WORLD FINALS (October, 28. 2009)
Team Canada had an amazing time at the Rok Cup World Finals in Lonato Italy. Kris Hoffbeck, Bob Wakeling, Nick Ferris, and Chad Grunow had the opportunity to race against some of the best drivers in the world. The Rok Senior class had 102 drivers and Rok Junior had 63, with 23 countries being represented. Hoffbeck was the fastest Canadian driver in qualifying and placed his CRG kart in 17th position. Bob Wakeling qualified his CRG in 75th, and Nick Ferris was in 80th. In the junior class, Chad Grunow placed his CRG in 53rd position, unfortunately, Grunow was at a great disadvantage, beings susbtantially overweight for the junior class. The drivers each had three qualifying races to determine their starting position for the final race. Hoffbeck and Wakeling took part in the first qualifying race of the weekend. Hoffbeck was starting in 4th position and Wakeling in 18th. The sun was out but the track was still very wet from morning rain. Due to an error by the parc ferme officials, both Hoffbeck and Wakeling were unable to use their alloted rain tires and were forced to go out on slicks, while the majority of the drivers were on rains. Because of this unfortunate circumstance, both drivers fell way back in the field and could only hope for better results in the next two qualitying races. In Hoffbeck's second race, he had an amazing run and worked his way up to second position. The top five drivers all broke away from the field and just fought amongst themselves in the last couple of laps. In those last few laps, Hoffbeck dropped a few positions to eventually finish fifth. All Hoffbeck needed was another good result in his final qualifying race to put him safely into the final. In his third and final qualifying race, Hoffbeck was running in 7th position when his battery cable came loose and cut the power to his motor, ending his race and also his chance at making the top 34 final race. Hoffbeck did race in the Dellorto Cup (the B Main), and worked his way up from 25th on the grid to 21st. Wakeling had consistent results in his qualifying heats, he was consisently placing in the mid to late teens but unfortunately it was not enough for Wakeling to qualify for the final or the B main (Dellorto Cup). Ferris unfortunately suffered the same fate as Wakeling: while he ran consistently through out his heats, he was unable to score enough points to advance him to either the final or the B Main.
In the junior category, Grunow ran well, considering his weight disadvantage, but was also unable to make the final and had to settle for the B Main.
Despite some bad luck, all the drivers had an amazing time running in this world class event.
CRG Maxter Wins Super KF World Title (October, 26. 2009)
For the 15th time in its history,CRG won theWorld Champion title in the top category of karting and confirmed itself as the most titled champion in the world at this level! 2009 season proved once again that the CRG chassis is an undisputable reference point for all karters. After Jonathan Thonon's victory at the World Cup for KZ1, it was Arnaud Kozlinski's turn to triumph in Macao, at the World Championship for Super KF. Regardless of whether or not it is equipped with a gearbox, the Italian chassis wins!
"When we chose the technical features of the Road Rebel chassis, we were not wrong" stressed CRG's technical manager. "It is both reliable and versatile. It wins in every country where it races and once again it has enabled us to make the difference at the highest level".
Track conditions were rather difficult in Macao, though Arnaud Kozlinski and the CRG Team demonstrated once again their incredible competitiveness in every situation. "We deserved to conquer the world title already in 2008, but a technical problem came in the way. It is a great revenge!” The French driver commented delighted. "I was the leader after timed qualifying, and then I won the pre-final and the final, despite some heavy rain in the last part of the race while we were on slicks. It was a deserved victory!”
The CRG Team can also be very satisfied with the overall performance of its karters. Fourth in the standings, Jonathan Thonon was within a hair's breadth of making the podium, while Davide Forè had to fight hard to reach 13th place, after a series of troubles during the qualifying phase.
After the KZ World Title, Here is the KF One Maxter engines monopolised the top standings in Macao and the 2009 World Championship finished with a magnificent performance, with the first four places occupied by MX Tag engines. Regardless of whether they were mounted on a CRG, a Maranello or a LH, Maxter engines dominated the scene in Asia. The pole position went to Ben Hanley, the first place in the qualifying heats was for Arnaud Kozlinski, “Koko” also won the pre-final, preceding the young Brandon Maisano, and then the final, with his equipment at the top. "In addition to its great performances, the Maxter engine is undisputedly reliable in the most difficult of all KF categories, because the engine regime can reach 16,000 rpm", Nico Carigiet declared. "The company has made a remarkable job, our engineers and mechanics are very talented and this is all very encouraging now that there are only a few months to go before next homologation of the KF engine, for the KF4, KF3, KF2 and Super KF categories”.
The two Maranello-Maxters driven by Aaro Vainio and Ben Hanley finally reached Kozlinski's CRG-Maxter on the podium and with Jonathan Thonon in fourth place, Maxter were in all the first four standings. Five weeks after Thonon's coronation at the World Cup for KZ1, Maxter was once again the top engine of 2009 season.

CRG-Maxter:2009 World champion (October, 4. 2009)
Three victories in a row in the World Cup for KZ1: an extraordinary result for the CRG Team, as thrice Belgian champion Jonathan Thonon confessed. "It is great to work with such a competent team and to drive this incredibly performing equipment". On 5 and 6 September, on the Italian track of Naples-Sarno, CRG, Maxter and Thonon became part of karting history after knocking out competition in the final. "It was an incredibly difficult and hard-fought race" Jonathan continued. "And it became a bit more complicated when I was forced to quit a heat. But my equipment was so competitive that I remained confident during the rest of the race".

Indeed, Thonon climbed from 9th to 4th place in pre-final. In the final, he was third after the first lap and made short work of the two leaders. Then, he gained that little advantage he needed to conquer the World Cup for KZ1 a third time. "My CRG chassis proved to be effective from the very beginning and kept improving lap after lap. I improved my times at each lap and in the end, I set the best lap in the final, with 1'03"255".

In addition to Jonathan Thonon's success, there was a superb 5th place by Arnaud Kozlinski. Davide Forè and Gary Carlton were also very fast, but unlucky in a weekend during which CRG chassis constantly showed top-level performances. The same thing happened in the World Cup for KF3, with the performances by Rumanian Robert Visolu and Finnish Matias Köykkä.

Maxter On the First Step of the Podium
10 engines among the finalists of the World Cup for KZ1, 3 drivers in the top 6 and the world title for Jonathan Thonon. Maxter MX has confirmed once again its status of reference point in the 125cc gearbox engine category. "As soon as I have started working on this engine, I have immediately understood its great potential" confirmed Patrick Savard (Tec'Sav), who prepared the winner's engine.

"Thonon is an experienced driver, but Maxter engines have also allowed less known drivers to show excellent performances" a spokesman of the Italian brand commented. "Young Danish driver Andreas Fasberg (AM chassis) set the third best time in timed qualifiers, American Gary Carlton and Italian Luca Tilloca (CRG chassis) posted the best lap in race during the qualifying heats, while Antonio Piccioni (RK chassis) managed to climb to 6th place just behind Arnaud Kozlinski. We have good reasons to be optimistic about the future".

After conquering the European KF3 Title in 2008, Maxter hoped for another good result in the World Cup for Juniors (from 13 to 15 years), but failed in the final phase. Joey Elkerbout (Zanardi), winner of one heat, and Robert Visolu (CRG), 4th after qualifiers, would have deserved a better result, considering how fast they were.
